October
Adam and Eve - music for Men’s and Women’s Voices
Jerry, McCoy conductor
We begin our season with an Adam and Eve concert – Music for Men’s and Women’s voices, featuring the resonant beauty of our women’s voices in works by celebrated American composers Moses Hogan, Gwyneth Walker and Craig Hella Johnson, as well as music by Claude Debussy, Frode Fjellheim, and Canadians Donald Patriquin and Stephen Hatfield. The men of Schola will bring their thrilling, powerfully expressive sound to bear in performances of Poulenc’s Four Short Prayers of St. Francis of Assissi, Frank Murphy’s moving Tell My Father, Jerome Kern’s Ole Man River, and works by Morten Lauridsen, Ippolotov-Ivanov, and Vjay Singh. The singers will close the concert with a rowdy setting of Cindy set for 4-hand piano and double choir by Mack Wilberg.
