Prepare a traditional vocal piece of two to four minutes in length that showcases your range, voice color and vibrato control. Be prepared for some scales and a tonal memory test. Bring two extra copies of your music, one for the accompanist and one for Dr. McCoy. Arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled time to complete a questionnaire regarding information we need for our records.
Key Points About Schola Membership
Singers are expected to commit to the entire season. All singers pay $150 dues for the season, which must be paid prior to the second rehearsal. A limited number of scholarships are available; applications must be approved prior to the second rehearsal. Applicants must have basic sight-reading skills. Men must provide their own tuxedos with proper accessories. Ladies must acquire authorized concert dress, shoes and necklace. Black music folders are required for all performances. Singers selected for membership will receive a singer handbook that spells out privileges and responsibilities of membership in Schola Cantorum of Texas.
Fundraising Is Everybody's Business!
Because fund raising is essential to our continued existence, we give it special mention: We expect all singers to support Schola by participating in fund raising efforts and by selling season and single concert tickets. This will be Schola's 49th continuous season of operation in the Fort Worth/Dallas metropolitan area. As we head toward our 50th season next year, let's give our community something to look forward, starting right now, by presenting concerts that thrill and captivate our audiences. For those of us who love to sing great music, Schola is a special family. Let's resolve right now to strengthen this great organization and have a lot of fun as we do that.
